I've been prolific these last two days with video making and if my rendering/converting programs don't frustrate me today I'll hopefully upload two more videos.

In this video I show Ultros 3 in the Esper Cave beaten the hard way: without inflicting the Stop status on the boss and without tossing any Rods (far better than Fire 2 spells due to the fact that they ignore defences).

Even though Locke and Strago actually have chances surviving the boss's Tentacle attack and have greater vitality, I went with Terra as my soloing character yet again, because of the MP she has and the large arsenal of spells I have taught her.

The first thing is to enter the battle already in Vanish status. We aren't equipping Phantom as the Esper and we didn't learn the Vanish spell so this is important.

The first turn, Ultros uses one of the three moves that all miss due to Vanish. The second turn, Ultros may use Stone that is likely to miss, but if it hits it will probably kill Terra regardless of Vanish. Being around Ultros, as usual, is dangerous, therefore he should be slowed down immediately as the battle commences.

With the boss slowed and Terra hasted, we can get many turns in before he acts.

Our strategy for offence is to cast Fire 2 spells. When Terra is at full HP and MP, she should morph into her Esper form to deal twice as much damage to Ultros. When she's out of MP, which is every two turns, she should use Osmose because we don't have too many Tinctures in our pockets.

When the boss has been hurt five or so times, he'll start countering all Fire 2 spells with Fire 3. That's why we have a Wall Ring equipped: Ultros will hurt himself with his own magic. Since bosses have poor offensive stats, the damage won't be anything extraordinary.

Chances are Vanish is no more by this time, but if it is, a Lode Stone spell will get rid of it. This is when we cast the Golem Esper spell, so that we have some form of protection from the attacks to come. This won't save us from a Tentacle attack though, so it's a good idea to hope for the best.

When Ultros is low on HP, he'll cast Haste amongst other things. This is the time to recast Slow.

Relm finally joins, so we should just use Sketch to end the battle. Right? WRONG. We're playing a solo game so Terra should finish this on her own. If Tentacle is used and Relm is still standing, Terra will survive due to split damage. If Relm is long gone, we lose and try again.

This is a long battle so I sped up the ending a bit. Ultros runs out of MP by the end of the battle and we nearly run out of MP restorative items.
