Some may remember that I was interested in doing a low level challenge in this game after finishing it. The normal playthrough was too easy for its own good, and an LLG seemed to make matters more difficult as it doesn't just limit the levels.

One thing is that only mandatory battles are fought, everything else is avoided. This means that we can't get Ryu's dragon forms, ever, making him a not-so-welcome addition to the party (though I expect him to be one of the four at all times, with the great equipment he gets later in the game).

Then there's the fusion stuff that we can't really abuse either. I'll need to do some testing to see if getting the fusion form killed before a battle ends results in no experience gained in ALL 3-4 characters taking part in the fusion, as we'll be deliberately killing off everyone who's not participating in a battle (because characters outside of the active party still gain experience).

Finally and fortunately for us, experience is divided on everybody who survived the battle, meaning a boss will give 1200 exp to a sole survivor and 400 exp to each person if 3 people survived the battle. This means we don't necessarily have to survive each battle with just one character, though we may be inclined to (like in this video where I want Nina to gain more levels).

Oh, and I intend to go for an evenly levelled party instead of one of a high average level. Surely, the latter would be a bigger achievement on the paper but I believe an equally raised party of eight would be more fun to play the game with.

Gremlin is tough, especially in his second form. It's a good idea to fortify defences at the beginning of the battle, as there will be no time to do that later, and try to make sure Bo casts the Fry spell every turn. He runs out of AP in just two turns though, so every odd turn Ryu, being the slower character, should use an Acorn on him to return him to full AP (somewhat similar to the standard BoF2 LLG practice of casting a dragon with the hero and having the rest support him with items).

When Gremlin "dies" and has his second wind, he will only use the attack that targets everyone. There is no more room to squeeze in E Key attacks any more, and sometimes even Bo will have to go into support mode.

I honestly have no idea how much HP Gremlin has in this form, nor does the game ever show this, but after I beat him twice I knew when exactly the battle would end.

I want Nina to learn the Warp spell as soon as possible, so I made her the sole survivor here. She can survive two Gremlin attacks with her best equipment on and one turn out of two can be used to attack for 30 damage with the E Key item.

Party levels after the battle:
Ryu - 11
Bo - 10
Nina - 10

The best thing about playing this challenge on a GBA version is that there is always the glitch that gives you potentially infinite cash, which can be exploited before you fight any battles. I still have like 800K Gold I could spend on whatever I want, and that's after buying a Gold Bar.
