FFVIA LLNSNI Part XXII: Gilgamesh
One of the optional WoR battles worth showing, and yet another GBA exclusive bonus enemy. GILGAMESH is here and he wants our weapons.
Gilgamesh's AI is diverse, comprising of two parts. When he opens, he'll use physical attacks and cast some blue magick. Some of it is harmless, other spells we don't want to see. Aqua Breath does target everybody and pierces through Reflect, but it's water/WIND-elemental, meaning we can and should nullify it with the help of a Thunder or the Paladin Shield. If Quasar is used, however (on the 4th turn only, and after that turn he'll repeat his AI again), everyone will die, which is the reason why Edgar is constantly in the air.
Gilgamesh's defences are high so the only good way of hurting him is tossing the Fixed Dice, which doesn't take defences into account at all. Mog is equipped like he was in previous videos. If Gilgamesh uses Discord on Mog, I think this will halve Fixed Dice's damage too, but I'm not sure. I do remember one instance when that was exactly what happened and how I spent a really long battle afterwards.
Once enough of Gilgamesh's health is reduced, his pattern will change and also be exact. iirc, he'll jump, attack several times in a row (easily prevented with the help of a perfect evade setup on, say, Shadow), and then toss weapons as powerful as Illumina our way. Too bad it's not Tactics and you can't catch them and keep after the battle.
The mightiest swordsman of Ivalice then goes down in no time at all, as his first form was actually more dangerous to us because of Quasar's possibility. Edgar may not have had the chance to revive anybody afterwards (hence my summoning Fenrir in the beginning, in case Edgar does happen to solo the boss at one point or another).
