I already mentioned I wouldn't upload boring or "safe" boss battles where having the right shields equipped guarantees you victory. I've got some videos that are worth sharing but since my folder with recording has got so terribly disorganised and I've got terribly lazy as it's summertime, I'm having trouble compiling those battles. The uploads are very much lagging behind my progress as of now. At this point, I'm trying to defeat Gigantuar and it's not working.
Anyway, Magic Master is an enemy most people hate a lot. He only casts magic (being the magic master of the fanatics tower), all of which can be reflected back at him for pretty high damage, but what's tricky about him is that he casts Ultima when killed.
To prevent him from his death counter, we can either cast Reraise on somebody from our party or jump. With Magic and Items being the only commands available to us (and Item unavailable because of our own restrictions), we can only jump if we summon Quetzalli.
I gave everybody in the party Dragon Horn, since we don't need Dragonboots anyway. Mog and Celes were given Celestriads so that I would have some free magic to use and the other two I gave Reflect Rings. Mog's Paladin Shield and Celes's Minerva do nullify most magic cast on them, and then can always set reflect up manually.
Which is what I do in the beginning of the battle. Once MagiMaster loses most of his HP, I don't renew Reflect on the bottom two any more. He often casts 2 -aga spells in a row, which is over 10K damage if reflected off all four party members.
Instead, to reduce his HP to as close to 0 as possible without killing him, I Berserk the boss and Vanish the whole party with the help of Phantom. Then I summon Quetzalli and hope that the boss dies during one of the first three jump attacks.
His defences are very high, so he'll only get hurt from Fixed Dice attacks and random spell castings. The latter don't kick in for me, but Fixed Dice doesn't disappoint as usual.
Ultima kills 3 people while Mog wins the battle in the air.
I didn't want to cast Reraise to make it more challenging for myself, but I feel that this spell is a necessity for the Gigantuar battle, even though I'd prefer to go without it for the entirety of the challenge.
I'll see what I can upload next.
