Final Fantasy [GBA] Playthrough #25, Lifespring Grotto, Run 1, B1-B10: Gilgamesh, Atomos
4This is video #25 in my playthrough of Final Fantasy on the Nintendo GameBoy Advance. This game is part of the Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls compilation.

Previously, the party finished up in the Hellfire Chasm. Now, they will move on to the Lifespring Grotto.
The entrance to the Lifespring Grotto is the whirlpool just west of Mount Duergar (time 0:47). This place opens its floodgates after the party defeats the Kraken in the Sunken Shrine and restores the light to the Water Crystal.
The party begins on floor B1 (time 1:09). This is an icy map. Look out for spiky sections of floor.
They go downstairs to floor B2 (time 3:29). This map is based on the Sunken Shrine.
They continue down to floor B3 (time 7:23).
They find a Tiger Mask in a chest (time 8:04). I would still go with a Ribbon, though.
They go down to floor B4 (time 10:52). This intriguing map is a floating castle with pathways that become visible for a brief time. If they fall off, they begin back at the starting point. The exit is in the northeast.
The party continues down to floor B5 (time 16:51). Ostensibly, this is Seahold, a mermaid village. In reality, it is the first boss floor in the dungeon. The mermaids talk about a strange man with a halberd that came through. Some broken-down robots have also washed up.
In the northeast room, the party encounters the strange swordsman, Gilgamesh, whose original appearance was in Final Fantasy V (time 21:46). Gilgamesh is the first boss in the Lifespring Grotto. He deals a lot of hits with his blows. Upon his defeat, he drops Genji Gloves.
The party keeps going down the stairway to floor B6 (time 24:33).
They continue down to floor B7 (time 28:17). This map is a large library with scholars clogging the narrow hallways.
The party descends to floor B8 (time 36:15).
They continue down to floor B9 (time 40:50). This map is inspired by the Flying Fortress.
The party reaches Level 54 (time 44:12).
They take the warp to floor B10 (time 45:29).
To the east, they face the second boss in the grotto, Atomos (time 45:35). I'm not terribly impressed with its physicals, but look out for Firaga and Wormhole, which can deal instant death. However, Atomos's drop is excellent: the Judgment Staff. Used as an item in battle, the Judgment Staff casts Flare.
Next time, the party will continue their progress through the Lifespring Grotto.
