Final Fantasy III NES - Part 7: The REAL World
5Part 7/22 in my Final Fantasy III - NES walkthrough.
I start with looting Castle Argass and getting the Time Gear from the king there.
Take this to Cid and he'll upgrade the Enterprise so that it can sail and fly.
Head to the Ancients' Village to sell/restock and then into the Enterprise and through the clouds.
At this point you'll see the game map you're used to was only a small part of a much bigger world. Head north west to a small island with a sunken ship on it.
Inside you'll meet an old man and a sick girl who needs a Potion to heal her.
She turns out to be the Maiden of the Water Temple and as such is important for the next Crystal.
Head to a larger island in the south east and enter the Water Temple first to grab the fragment of the Water Crystal. Next head into the cave behind it, as you may have suspected, the enemies are mainly weak to Bolt here, and some will go down with the basic class... yeah really. You'll quickly encounter a door which has a seal only the Maiden can break. So advance once she's done her bit.
The path is fairly linear, but when it makes a north-south split, head around the north side first. The enemies in the water are a bit harder, but still comfortable for our party. You'll reach the Water Crystal room shortly. The Maiden will be hit by an arrow by the boss of this dungeon, Kraken. I'm actually not sure of his weaknesses, I presume Ice/Bolt but I started with Ice3 because it was doing more damage than the Bolt2.
After the fight the Maiden dies, but more importantly an Earthquake or something happens and a big island emerges from the depths. We awaken in a village here and we encounter four old men claiming to be the true light warriors.
Head into the waters and grab the Carrots and treasures on the small patch of land to the north. Our job is to look for some special shoes which will help us float over some dangerous terrain, so we have to head into the Sewers in the south east part of this waterway. the four 'brave' old men get themselves into a spot of bother and end up surrounded by 8 Goblins. Some warriors... a level 2 spell on all of them should deal with them. Save them and continue on, don't forget the secret room on the way for the Power Gloves/Gauntles, which are nice for your Knights.
Eventually you'll encounter an old woman who possesses the shoes, the old men convince the old lady that you are the real hero, and it seems they were testing your mettle the whole time. So I end after playing the piano and making everyone in the room dance.
