Part: 4 of 5
With the FLOATER in hand, Moo and team can locate the buried airship, somehow learn to fly it without a pilot's license, and do a bunch of stuff out of order. I thought it would be fun to see what it would be like to fight the fiends in reverse order (with Lich still being first, as I don't think you have a choice there) so this is what transpires. Here are some highlights:
2 minutes, 55 seconds - Interestingly, there are no foes in this desert.
4 minutes, 20 seconds - For some reason this little section of grass below the Mirage Tower only contains imps. It's like a reverse peninsula of power. Very good.
15 minutes, 40 seconds - Having some fun with these town tiles for no good reason here.
34 minutes - I never knew that if you were moving around on water you do not take damage from poison. Interesting. But you can use tents on the water which is great!
1 hour, 45 seconds - The airship normally cannot land on sand, but it's strangely able to land on the sand that has the caravan. In my last playthrough I learned that if you buy the bottle and use it, the caravan is no longer available (which would make sense as there shouldn't be another bottle for sale). In this playthrough I wanted to see if you could buy multiple bottles before using them. You can! Unfortunately it doesn't seem to change anything in your inventory and once you use one, they are all gone. Cool and pointless test. Now reset and get your money back so you can never spend it.
1 hour, 13 minutes, 25 seconds - If you examine this door it tells you that it's locked by the mystic key. That's strange. It's required that you have the key at this point. I wonder if there are other doors this late in the game that say the same thing if examined. I check out a lot of doors in this playthrough but don't find any more like this one.
1 hour, 38 minutes, 30 seconds - I found this here by accident. Apparently if you go to your menu, leave the menu, and press against a townsperson as they are trying to walk against you, you will walk through them! I wonder if there are any really cool things you can do or any places you can get stuck with this glitch.
1 hour, 40 minutes, 20 seconds - You actually cannot get into the Mirage Tower without the chime, so I suppose we'd better go find one!
1 hour, 44 minutes, 40 seconds - This is the upper portion of the "peninsula of power" that contains the same enemy set that was used for grinding levels in part 2.
1 hour, 48 minutes, 30 seconds - This was a new discovery for me...Looks like Lefein wraps around. You can see it if you walk over here. The sections that take you out of the town seem kind of odd as well. I actually saw something similar in the waterfall cave but it doesn't look as bizarre.
2 hours, 46 minutes - For some bizarre reason Tiamat is weak against BANE, which is an instant death spell that can be cast by using the Bane Sword as an item. The item has a chance of failure but this was exactly how you want the battle to go.
2 hours, 54 minutes, 30 seconds - The rest of this video is just grinding Eye battles in the Ice Cave for experience. I think this is the most efficient place to level up in the game. Seems like overkill but don't be so sure...
3 hours, 39 minutes, 50 seconds - Oh we have max gold. Cool.
(A note about video experimentation here...I recorded this one at CQP level 30 on the "quality" preset in OBS and it seems great and was well under a gigabyte an hour. This might be a good setting for NES games since it doesn't seem to have the blurriness when pixels change quickly, such as when you're flying over water. Recording at a constant bitrate of 6,000 like I did in the previous three videos did have that blur and the file sizes were even larger.)
