And now we reach the end. We return to where we fought Garland, only to end up going back in time to the distant past. This is the finale.
Basically, the final area of the game is basically a boss rush. You will get some new treasure but the main focus is that you will face off against the four fiends: Lich, Marilith, Kraken and Tiamat. They are harder, pack more health and stronger attacks. But if you are at over level 50s, they are no issue. At the end you face off against Garland.
Garland explains that after his death, he was sent 2000 years into the past where he would become the ultimate menace responsible, Chaos. Chaos in turn sent the four fiends into the future. In doing so, he created a time loop that would allow him to never die. Sadly though he has to contend with these four heroes.
Chaos is the final boss of the original Final Fantasy, having a lot of HP and powerful attacks. The same strategy still applies but with one difference. After the White Wizard buffs, focus on healing and nothing else. Your physical attackers should buff with Saber, Haste and Temper. Having that will guarantee you delivering massive damage. It can be tough but not impossible. Trust me.
With Chaos defeated, the cycle is broken. Basically everything that happened in this journey didn't happen at all. The only ones who will remember are those that believed that there would be hope for the world. How's that for an ending.
So yeah, that is it for the original Final Fantasy. It may be archaic at times but it is still fun to play. I'll be blunt. It can be a challenge but with the right party combination, you can pull it off.
One game down, five to go. See you for when we do the black sheep of the entire franchise, Final Fantasy II. Not Final Fantasy IV. That comes later. I speak of the ORIGINAL Final Fantasy II.
