The third of the four fiends in FF1 is the safest way to face, only capable of killing one character per turn with the regular physical attack, and using Blind on the party on all other turns, which equipped Ribbons fully guard against, though the Knight has to sacrifice some of the raw defence to become immune to it, something that likely pays off considering you no longer have to worry about using eye drops after that.

The Knight, as our primary damage dealer, should be kept safe from attacks by being placed in 3rd or 4th party slow, but what I do instead is make setup much simpler by putting him in the 1st, reducing the odds of the frail Red Wizards being targeted. By using Defend on the first turn, I have very good chances of surviving the first turn, which is when Giant's Tonics are used. If the timing is right on the Hi-Potion, the Knight can use normal actions and start tanking hits for the party.

Giant's Gloves for Temper, Speed Drinks and Strength Tonics are used at this point while the party stays alive. Invisira may or may not have a lasting effect on my longevity in this fight. The second RW, being better equipped than the other two, has some excuse to take one Giant's Tonic and heal up, as he can actually take an attack (and has a 1/4 chance of being targeted).

The damage starts out low and gets heavy only on the last critical I land, which is, as has become commonplace in these recent vids, overkill (900 damage against the boss's 1,800 HP). According to mechanics data I found, Speed Drinks seem way more potent than Giant's Gloves for maximising hit count, whereas Temper is still superior to Strength Tonic usage, but the latter can be used on an ally who's already begun accumulating damage.

I finish the sidequest to get Excalibur before this fight so as to enjoy attacking with the weapon for at least some time. This game is short and doesn't have all that many bosses.
