Nomura has done an interview with a few French Final Fantasy fansites about quite a few topics, including the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and his role at the company.

And as part of the interview, Nomura spoke about how the Final Fantasy VII Remake will be moving away from the source material, as laid out in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. It's why they are unlikely to do a HD Remaster Collection for things like Crisis Core, Before Crisis and Dirge of Cerberus, as they will lack continuity and coherence.
