Tabata Doesn't Want to Direct Another Final Fantasy... Yet!

Hajime Tabata has gone on record as saying that he doesn't want to direct Final Fantasy XVI game or any other Final Fantasy game, as he wants to work on a new IP. He hasn't discounted coming back in the future, but it's just not in his thinking right now.
It all came from a fun little story he shared about a meal he had with Final Fantasy legend Hironobu Sakaguchi. It sounds like they have an interesting relationship!
What could this IP be though? Agni's Philosophy is a good shout, as it's been out there for a while and has had such as positive response. But it could be something else entirely.

It does mean that even if Final Fantasy Type-Next (Type-1) is in development, that Tabata won't be directing it, but he might still be involved in some shape or form. Likewise, we don't know how involved he's going to be with Final Fantasy XV's DLC.
