Previously, Heorot continued training in the Western Altepa Desert. He reached Level 59 as Red Mage. Now, he will start working on "Whence Blows the Wind", Maat's sadistic quest to raise his level limit from 60 to 65.
Heorot resumes at his Mog House in Bastok. He gets some more money in his delivery box for clusters sold on the auction house. Thank you to all purchasers!
Bastok Mines (time 1:13):
Heorot heads to the auction house to list some Fire Clusters that he obtained in the West Altepa Desert last time. Then, he teleports to Ru'Lude Gardens, Jeuno.
Ru'Lude Gardens (time 3:15):
At H-5, Heorot talks to Maat. Maat issues the quest "Whence Blows the Wind". This becomes available at Level 56, but it is a good idea to wait until Level 59 or 60. Heorot must bring him an Orcish Crest, a Quadav Crest, and a Yagudo Crest. These are in Davoi, Beadeaux, and Castle Oztroja, but they are in the midst of high-level beastmen with true sight or true hearing. The one in Davoi is particularly complicated to reach, so Heorot will go after that one first.
Note that to do this quest, you need to have at least started Mission 4-1: "Magicite". You must have acquired the key items required to open the doors in the beastman strongholds.
Before he gets started, Heorot teleports to Lower Jeuno.
Lower Jeuno (time 5:41):
Heorot heads to Waag-Deeg's Magic at H-8. From Hasim, he picks up a Scroll of Cursna and a Scroll of Barsilencera. He uses them to learn the White Magic spells Cursna and Barsilencera.
Afterwards, Heorot heads to the Residential Area.
Mog House (time 8:21):
Unfortunately, Heorot cannot access his Mog Safe 2, since he has yet to do Jeuno's Mog House exit quest. He exits.
Lower Jeuno (time 8:54):
Heorot teleports to Bastok Mines.
Bastok Mines (time 9:22):
Heorot goes to the Bastok Residential Area.
Mog House (time 10:15):
Heorot withdraws some Echo Drops from storage. He will need them when he goes to Beadeaux again.
Bastok Mines (time 10:52):
Heorot goes to Boytz's Knickknacks at H-7 north of the auction house. From Boytz in the back room, he buys more Echo Drops to fill up his stack.
Then, Heorot uses the Survival Guide at I-9 to teleport to Davoi, Norvallen.
Davoi (time 12:55):
Heorot goes around to H-11 and takes an entrance to the Monastic Cavern.
Monastic Cavern (time 17:21):
Heorot arrives in the southern section of the Monastic Cavern. There are Orcs here that will aggro if you are not invisible, so be careful. Some will rank as very tough to a Level 59 character.
At H-8/I-8, Heorot exits to Davoi.
Davoi (time 20:47):
Heorot arrives at I-8 on a ramp to Davoi's central plateau.
At J-9 to the east, there is a Wall of Banishing blocking another entrance to the Monastic Cavern. It is guarded by three Orcs, one of which is very tough, so be careful when you drop Invisible to examine it. You may want to defeat the Orcs first, but be very careful.
Unfortunately, when Heorot examines the Wall of Banishing, he finds that he cannot get through the barrier. Getting through will be a bit tedious.
To the north of the Wall of Banishing, on a platform over the Devil's Finger, Heorot talks to a Tarutaru named Sedal-Godjal. It seems Sedal is the one that sealed off the cave entrance. He gives Heorot a temporary key item, the White Orb, which Heorot must dip into the four red pools of Davoi. It will be absorbing dark powers from the pools. Note that when you have put it into all four pools, you will get cursed, so bring a means to deal with it.
It would be helpful if you could drop off Sedal-Godjal's platform, but no such luck. However, there are other spots where you can probably drop off.
As for Heorot, he backtracks to the Monastic Cavern entrance at I-8.
Monastic Cavern (time 35:07):
Heorot backtracks through the cavern to the exit at H-11.
Davoi (time 37:54):
Heorot starts at H-11 in the south. Now, he will go in search of the four red pools. This part will not be hard for a Level 59 or Level 60 character.
The southern red pool is the Howling Pond at H-10. Dunking the White Orb once turns it into the Pink Orb. The Orcs at this pool are easy prey to a Level 59 character.
The eastern red pool is the Wailing Pond at L-9. Dunking the Pink Orb a second time turns it into the Red Orb. The Orcs here are too weak to be worthwhile to a Level 59 character.
The western red pool is the Screaming Pond at E-8. Dunking the Red Orb a third time turns it into the Blood Orb. Charming. The Orcs here are easy prey to a Level 59 character. Heorot acquires a Gold Orcmask from one. Interesting.
The description is continued in the comments.
