Soldiers of 40 Regiment Royal Artillery were joined by hundreds of veterans on the esplanade at Edinburgh Castle on Friday evening as they paraded for the last time.

As a result of the Strategic Defence and Security Review the unit is being placed into suspended animation.

Soldiers were presented with a commemorative coin, 137 Java Battery received their Operational Service Medals and the Lord Provost bestowed the Privilege of the City of Edinburgh on the Regiment.
