A plane that can be flown without pilots or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles as they are commonly known are not new -- they have been used out in theatre for the last ten years.
However up in Lancashire, ground-breaking technology project costing £62 million pounds is taking place to develop the UAV even further.
A BAE Systems airliner known as 'The Flying Test Bed', is undergoing a series of flight trials that will test it's ability to avoid weather systems, sense and avoid other aircraft and deliver an emergency landing.
