I made it to Impa and she took me up to the sky in a hot air balloon and said "you can get yourself down using your glider; don't worry about me." I didn't have a glider. Time to nab one by progressing the story, I suppose. I heard such from my siblings, so I might as well do it already. Doing such unlocked the main story quests, including populating major towns with quest-relevant npcs who were absent before. The goron place that was a ghost town is now populated pretty nicely, and I can do stuff about the big rocks I'd been seeing.
I make okay progress, but I really only wanted to do so much, and stopping in the middle of a temple felt "incorrect," so I pushed through to get that done however incorrectly I might have gone about it.
