Learning as I go along, here in the second session I have ever played of this game, playing between doing loads of laundry.
From what I can gather, these tables have similar features, but with different placements: For instance, on the Ruby table, you need to hit Chikorita and then bop the left Linoone in order to summon one Gulpin; getting 3 Gulpin within a timeframe will allow you to swap the locale. On the Sapphire board, there is no Chikorita step; you just hit the left side to get 3 Seedot.
I'm not sure which table I prefer yet. The Ruby table feels roomier, but the shop/evo area feels nigh inaccessible. The Sapphire table feels rougher for nailing Shroomish compared to Chinchou, but if your ball falls, it gets a free hit on a given underway capture. Plusle and Minun are annoying to get past, but it's a one-time obstacle where aiming for the evo spot on the Ruby board is annoying and tough.
I don't know how to make full use of tilting yet. I saw in the control-mapping that I can press both shoulder buttons together to tilt upwards, which makes sense since either individual tilt sends diagonally upwards; the two should cancel out. I just never thought of doing it.
I managed to evolve a pokemon this time. I figure that if I catch a Skitty and don't evolve it, I might as well not have caught it, because Delcatty is probably exclusive through that method. I did partake of a bonus game with Duskull and Dusclops, but it was just for points, and I missed out on the high score by a considerably small amount. It was preventable by just buying insurance in the shop. Latias would have understood. ah well. Maybe next time.
I don't have a particular goal for this game. Maybe I could play until I catch all of the pokemon I like? I want to get better at this game so that I can properly appreciate it, because there's a lot of stuff here, and I feel like not persisting would see me missing out on something probably pretty good. I want to at least experience like, Kyogre/Groudon stuff, however you get so that. After all, how can you decide whether you like a game if you haven't even beaten it? 100% is probably off the table.
get it?
off the table??
yehhhhhhhhhh
