This chapter is very good to train weak units you have in your roster, to improve it and help you in future chapters. Besides that you have some useful items that will help you a lot later on.

For the Gaiden Chapter I can't say 100% sure. But for me, I have to capture Salem before turn 20.
There are some very interesting rewards in these areas, and you only get these rewards depending on the child you saved from chapter 11x.

Before you go any further, take special care with the status effects. In this chapter the boss has a Sleep Staff, if the target is hit by the Sleep Staff, the target will be asleep for the rest of the chapter or .... until you use the Recover Staff (which doesn't exist yet, and which you will get later).

It is possible to avoid Sleep Staff if your unit has more MAG than the enemy, if you have a problem and you want to avoid it you can always use Holy Water or Ensorcel, but remember that with each turn it will decrease its effect.
Or use units that you think you won't use in that chapter and force the enemy to use the Sleep Staff on them until it breaks.

The northern house above the coliseum and the shop, that gives you a Silence Staff, highly recommended. This will make it easier for you to nullify enemies that use magic or also nullify enemies that have status staff like Berserk/Silence or Sleep. As long as they are not in Throne or Gate terrain.
The southern house, gives you the Heim Scroll. It becomes a pretty good scroll, if you want to use it to sacrifice DEF growth for MAG and LUCK. Good for increasing magic resistance, for example it can be good for Dalsim.

The house of the lake and that there appears Mateeta in the 2nd turn, if you enter with any character to that house gives you Vulnerary. But if you visit with Olwen instead of giving you Vulnerary, he gives you the Magic Ring. Another interesting item

The other 2 good rewards is the Sleep Staff from the boss, which you can capture. And the other one is the Vantage Manual, from the Warrior that you will find later on. If you have trouble capturing Colho, you can first steal the boss's Sleep Staff and then use it on Colho to capture the unit and take his items.

Remember that Vantage cannot stack with Wrath Skill, otherwise Wrath will never activate.

STRATEGY:

Another chapter with FoW, for this bring Torch or the Torch Staff to provide more vision to the battlefield. Even if you see a lot of enemies together, it's not much of a threat if you decide to go with an already strong character, but if you decide to train characters that are weak, try to fight one at a time.

If you want to visit houses quickly before they are looted, try to use Karin or use units with high mobility. Pay attention to the terrain, some areas that appear as Thicket cannot be traversed except for Karin who being an air unit can traverse it, the rest of the areas are forest areas, remember that mounts will move even slower, keep this in mind.

In order to access the other area you need to open the bridge. To do this you will need to steal or capture the unit that has the Bridge Key and there is only 1. If you lose it by chance, you can use a Thief to open the bridge with the lock picks. Beware of the boss's Sleep Staff who can put your unit to sleep for the rest of the chapter and if you put your Thief to sleep, you won't be able to cross to the other side of the lake unless you use Karin to do it, and if all these options are exhausted, I'm afraid it's a Softlock and you'll have to reset the chapter.

Try to go slowly as the forests will make it difficult for you to move your units.

For Mareeta that comes out at the beginning of turn 2, you have to be a little careful with her, because if you make a bad move you can kill him unintentionally, so make sure he is always in forest terrain that will boost his DEF and AVOID.

For the boss try to use a unit with damage and some magic resistance, as his tome that he has equipped does a lot of damage. And try to capture him, he's a pretty decent unit and has good Staff mastery (C).
