Gotta finish this game.
Chapter starts at 04:12
Shout outs to Wolt since in this chapter he:
* Got hit by a critical and survived. (32:51)
* Got the mythical 1% Critical with a Longbow. (42:26)
Chapter 22 is the final chapter of the game if you haven't gotten all Legendary Weapons, or broke any due to overuse.
This thing isn't as beastly as Chapter 21, but it will eat you alive if you're not careful.
What happens when you try to play a game you left behind for nearly a year without practice on the hardest difficulty? Shit happens.
I had to do a few practice runs because I had completely forgotten about what kind of team and plan I had formed for this map. What I did here was probably far from my original idea, but hey, I still won.
Now onto the quirks and oddities of this map...
As you may expect there are ailment Druids and Bishops. Restore users are extremely recommended on both sides (if you use both) since they will always target a unit with very low Res.
The east wing has a much easier time since you have the majority of your team stationed there, as long as you don't go too crazy you can handle enemies over there with ease.
The west wing on the other hand is far more problematic since it has two points where fairly tough enemies will attack you from north and south once you cross the corridor to the switch. You have a Hero with a Killing Edge and a Sniper with a Brave Bow (south) and another two Druids with Fenrirs (north) over there, so you have to be very careful dealing with that side as it's all too easy for everything to spiral out of control.
And then there's Bishops with Silence and Sleep on the far north, the Sleep one in particular had me foaming from the mouth. I think they respawn every 5 turns or so?
Once you hit the switches on both sides you have to station Roy in the front door to open it leading to Zephiel's throne room.
This is the point when the chapter decides to stop being playing nice with you and sics A LOT of powerful enemies on you:
* 3 Heroes, 2 with Silver weapons and 1 with Lancereaver.
* 1 Berserker with Hammer.
* 3 Druids with Fenrir.
* 2 Snipers with Silver weapons.
* 2 Manaketes.
I've tried to play defensively a few times but someone would always get killed because the Druids hits for an absurd amount of damage even magic users and Heroes with Manaketes can easily trample over anyone with sheer brute force. There was also the additional issue with the Snipers being able to pick off anyone wounded which was getting on my nerves.
Zeiss getting put to sleep on the way to Zephiel's throne room was the last straw for me. It was in that moment that what little rational, calculating patience I still had simply vanished until the end.
What you watch me doing here for the final room is me getting into "fuck it all" mode and going basically on a suicidally aggressive rampage-- which in hindsight was a pretty stupid idea since I went into the throne room without two of my most powerful units here: Zeiss and Clarine.
I wasn't even thinking there, I just went for it without really considering how bad the situation could go which ALMOST did since if the Druid had landed that last Fenrir on Wendy the Bishop would most certainly go for the kill and I honestly have no idea how that would end (haha, yeah, who am I kidding?).
Anyway, after that I make sure to plug the stairs with my units because I wasn't even sure if more reinforcements would pop up, but I definitely wasn't in the mood to know, and finally unleashed the "once-in-a-lifetime-not-mediocre-Roy" on Zephiel with Archers getting potshots on him. I wanted to blast Zephiel with Sophia but I know better than to taunt the game with Criticals even if they are on single digits.
