0Before we attempt to take on Sylvain's brother and take back the Lance of Ruin, we do some Auxiliary Battles which will unlock the Merchant's shop. With the Merchant, we can buy a lot of things, like gifts, bait for fishing, and tea leaves, so this quest is worth doing if you want to build up support with other units.

In the last part, I recruited Cyril, and because of description space, I never went over Cyril as a unit, starting from Chapter 5, he can be recruited if Byleth is at Level 10 or over, and he cannot be recruited on Black Eagles. Cyril will be recruited as a Commoner and can be promoted to the Fighter Class, he has strengths in different weapons types, like Lance, Axe, and Bow, so you can choose to make him a Brigand or an Archer, he does have strengths in Riding and Flying, which leads to him possibly becoming a Cavalier or a Wyvern Rider, although I find that Wyvern Rider is the recommended class for Cyril.
Cyril's Personal Ability is Aptitude, which boosts growth rates during Level Ups by 20%, and while he starts off really weak, his Personal Skill gives him higher growth rates, so if you invest time in training, he can become a really powerful unit. He has good growth rates in Speed, Dexterity, HP, and Luck. For Combat Arts, if you want to make Cyril an Archer, he learns Point-Black Volley at C+ Rank, which will hit twice, Leonie learns this skill as well, but she learns it at A Rank in Bows, they both learn Lance Jab at A Rank in Lances, which increases Mt based on the user's Speed. Cyril learns Vengeance at C+ Rank in Lances, Bernadetta and Dedue learn this Combat Art as well, and its damage is based on the user's missing HP. For Axe Arts, he leans Monster Breaker at C+ Rank, and Armored Strike at A Rank, we will be fighting Monster units very soon.

With the objective complete, that will unlock the Merchant's Shop, where you can buy bait for fishing, so I recommend fishing on days where you are likely to get rarer fish.
