🌀【Fleurina's Castle Part 1 - Pure Platforming V3 by BoltGreyWing】〖Mega Maker Showcase〗(MMM Levels)
Hey friends, today we have a level by the one, the only, the BoltGreyWing! BoltGreyWing is a prolific level creator, and I've already seen many of his levels played on various other channels. In fact, I saw this particular BoltGreyWing level played just yesterday!
BoltGreyWing has submitted at least three other Mega Man Maker levels, although I'm not sure how many we will get to play... some have since been removed from the server. In fact, this one may no longer exist, as a new version has been released. BoltGreyWing seems to like doing multiple revisions to each of his levels in order to make the best possible product.
This is kind of a cool idea, and it speaks to two different types of level design. My preferred way is to make one product, refine it as much as possible, release it and move on to the next. This is good and bad... the main upside is that you can move forward to new things and that your level will always exist if someone else wants to play it.
The downside is that you don't get any of that real player feedback unless you have some friends playtest the level for you beforehand. I try to do this when I can, but I am way more invested in Mega Man Maker than a lot of my friends, so it's not always easy to find someone willing to play the level. Being able to submit your level to YouTubers and get their feedback before going back and updating it means you will most likely get a much better end product.
I can think of certain levels of mine that are completely broken now that I've seen other people play it. For example, in one of my levels called Unimaginatively-Titled Jungle Fortress, I made last-minute changes to the ceiling tiles. These changes made one of the main bosses of the game, a tricky-to-deal-with Hot Dog, into a completely bypassable non-challenge.
Either way, I don't know why I went into a deep dive about that when the focus should be the level at hand, haha. I just find game development interesting is all. As for the level, it's quite the interesting challenge -- it's one that restricts you from all weapons! Yup, just as the title would imply, this is a pure platforming challenge. It's just you and your ability to dodge.
All-in-all, it ends up being a medium difficulty level, which is a nice surprise. It would be really easy to go overboard with a concept like this and make it too hard, but this showed a bit of restraint and it ended up being challenging but not frustrating. Right in the pocket, Bub.
Anyways, thanks to BoltGreyWIng for sending in this stage, and thank all of you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed the video, and if you'd like to see one of your stages played don't be shy, just leave me that Level ID in the comments! Thanks friends!
