Turns out each floor's model gets culled in and out depending on which one it thinks you're on, so if you mess with the detection...yeah, really funky stuff happens.

I discovered the values responsible on accident as I was trying to figure out a floor modifier for this dig site, but then I found out that it was impossible due to how the game actually functions for these kind of scenarios.
