I decided to give Kaguya a spin against solo Crystal Guardian and spoiler alert: she should probably stick to killing the Crystals.

Despite her full piercing (via Royal People of the Moon), her full damage isn't that high. While this run wasn't the most optimized, you can see her hit 400K-500K damage with incomplete buffing, SIL and the Eientei synergy. It's not bad in a vacuum (it's comparable to Kogasa's damage, but without the hassle of inflicting HVY and TRR) but it's pretty underwhelming considering the class (Gambler) and setup (fielding the full Eientei syenrgy). With full buffs, she hovers around the same damage range as Archmage Alice, maybe a bit higher. While Gambler Kaguya can almost crack 800K with favorable conditions, I think Kaguya is better as a Crystal killer. Quite a few attackers can hit 800K and higher, but very few characters can manage the first phase of this fight as efficiently as Kaguya.

Speaking of killing Crystals, I needed a substitute for Kaguya during the first phase. I chose Flandre and she's actually not bad. You start off by buffing Flan to max with Sanae. Then you use Starbow Break to destroy the Fire Crystal. Laevatein can then be used to 1-shot/2-shot the Water Crystal while also significantly damaging the Earth Crystal. Then you can use Starbow Break or Laevatein to finish the job. Laevatein can also damage the Guardian, but it also has considerable recoil and may not actually finish off the Earth Crystal, while Starbow Break does a lot of damage due to the Earth Crystal's DRK weakness. Just go with whatever you prefer.

You can see from the timestamps that she can speed through the first phase much faster than Kaguya. The main drawback to running her is that she's riskier than Kaguya. Despite her low HP, Kaguya can do a decent job of tanking the Guardian and Fire Crystal's AOEs. The only problematic attack for her is the Crystal Guardian's Ancient Curse, and even an un-buffed Kaguya will survive 1 hit. So long as the Fire Crystal doesn't immediately follow up with their AOE, you'll have plenty of time to re-heal with either Mystia's Mysterious Song or Maribel's Novice Border.

Flandre has higher HP but can't use Starbow Break without damaging herself. It's very easy for the Crystal Guardian to come in and finish off a weakened Flandre after you just finished killing the Fire Crystal.

I won't say that Kaguya is straight up better for the first phase. It feels good to clear the first phase in under five minutes, and some people will just prefer the faster and riskier strategy. I do think Kaguya is more "equipment efficient" though. The Post-Game provides you a ton of equivalent MAG boosting equips (i.e. AGC Warhead, Astral Dominae and Great Question's Mask) and Kaguya can easily borrow some without impacting your other magical attackers. But you only get one Super Sledge and Flandre is only good at killing the Crystals, so giving it to her will impact the performance of other physical attackers. Note that this doesn't matter if you're running Gambler Patchouli or other MAG-based attackers for the final part of this fight.
