You read that title right. So here's a funny story: when I last played Labyrinth of Touhou 2 and got up to Futo, it seems like I used a save that DIDN'T have the Post-Game super-bosses (Great C, Second Son, Desire-Eating Demon and Crystal Guardian) defeated. In other words: I now have a save where I have Swordmaster and Archmage unlocked and available to use against the Crystal Guardian and the other super-bosses.
I decided to see how the two Plus Disk classes were against the Crystal Guardian and to be perfectly honest... they're okay for this fight. The classes don't do anything to address how tanky this boss is, so anyone that was doing scratch damage before will still be doing scratch damage now.
TBH the characters that CAN use Swordmaster and Archmage well won't actually want to use it, since they already have CLD and NTR element attacks and are much better off using Transcendent and Gambler to boost their existing attacks.
The only character that can use Swordmaster decently here is Flandre. It's all thanks to her absolutely ridiculous ATK growth, though her SDM synergy skill helps too. I don't think anybody else can use this class as well except for maybe Yuugi and Suika. Though IIRC Futo can manage a respectable 210K damage with the power of her Stacking gimmick.
With HVY and full buffs you can hit about 400-500K damage. That's like Kogasa tier damage for this fight. It's not bad, but it's far from top tier. I'm sure I could squeeze more juice out of this if I brought the whole SDM synergy and/or Nitori / Satori, but why bother when there are simpler and less convoluted ways to clear this fight.
Would I recommend putting off this boss fight until you get Swordmaster? Nah.
