Announced in the Pokémon Presents, Pokémon Trading Card Game is now on Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online. This game released in 2000 for the Game Boy Color, and it is based around the Pokémon Trading Card game, and it includes cards from Base Set, Jungle, and Fossil, and they also included cards exclusive to the game.
I don't have any plans to do a playthrough on the game because of how much it takes to obtain cards to build decks, but I do go through the tutorial at the beginning of the game. The main protagonist's default name is Mark, and his goal is to become the world's greatest Pokémon Trading Card player, he visits Dr. Mason in his laboratory, and for the tutorial, we duel against Sam, where he brings out a practice deck, and we have to follow the tutorial on how to play the game.
In the Pokémon Trading Card Game, you attack energy to your Pokémon to use attacks, and some attacks have different effects, and to defeat a Pokémon, you have to deal enough damage to them. To evolve a Pokémon, you have to place the evolved form of the Pokémon onto the one you have in play, for example, to evolve Staryu into Starmie, you have to use a Starmie card on any Staryu that you have in play in order to evolve it.
After the practice duel, you get to pick a deck from Dr. Mason, and they feature Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur, the three Starter Pokémon, and the adventure is to take on the 8 Club Masters to earn their Master Medals, and each of them represent certain types in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, those being Grass, Fire, Water, Fighting, Electric, and Psychic, but there is a Rock Club and a Science Club, the Fighting-type is used for Rock, and the Science Club tends to use Poison-type Pokémon, which the Grass-type is used for in the Trading Card Game.
