How to install and play Grand Theft Auto III (GTA 3) in Ubuntu Linux using Wine. I show it working by doing the mission Sayonara Salvatore.

GTA III is a Platinum rated game in Wine (runs perfectly without any modifications), for more info see Wine AppDB:

Installing the game:
Open Configure Wine (winecfg)
Add a new drive letter and select your GTA III Install CD
Add another drive letter for your GTA III Audio CD
Untick "Emulate a Virtual Desktop"
Open GTA III installer and treat it like a standard Windows install

Running the game:
Open gta3.exe which by default will be on your Wine C Drive (~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Rockstar Games/)
After the black square disappears press Enter twice
Enjoy...
