Released 8/28/1985, Geimos for Famicom is a bit of an anomaly in that it never came out on another system. Developed by Wexel/Micronics and published by ASCII, the game is a 3D space shooter with ground and air targets. You battle your way through six locations in the solar system with impressive cosmic backgrounds, fighting alien invaders known as mastodons.

This game has potential but feels a bit unfinished. The controls and graphics push the system to its limits, and the Star Wars music homage is pretty cool. Could this be the precursor to Star Fox? The end boss on each stage surely looks similar, as does the planet theme. I think Nintendo bought the IP for this game and that's why we never saw it anywhere else. They recognized its potential, but wanted to wait for the right hardware to perfect it on: SNES.

I am considering a playthrough to be beating the Hi Score. I played on an original NES with a Game Genie adapter (see Shorts) to allow for playing a Famicom cartridge. I am using a NES Advantage controller, RCA cables, and a Sharp X-Flat 27" CRT TV.
