Released 7/18/1985, Zippy Race is a port of Irem's arcade game of the same name released in 1983. You play as a motorcycle driver zipping through traffic on your way across the U.S.A., dodging traffic and picking up fuel as you go. You stop in some of the major U.S. cities along the way: Vegas, Chicago, Houston... although I am not familiar with San Luis. If you aren't careful, you will run out of gas and it's Game Over.

Zippy Race, also known as MotoRace USA in America, is similar to Konami's Road Fighter, but not as good. I did like seeing the skylines of the cities, but the gameplay left something to be desired. The most notable thing about this game is the red light on the game cartridge. You know it's a mediocre game at best if the developer resorts to selling it with gimmicks.

I am considering a playthrough to be beating the Hi Score. I played on an original NES with a Game Genie adapter (see Shorts) to allow for playing a Famicom cartridge. I am using a NES Advantage controller, RCA cables, and a Sharp X-Flat 27" CRT TV.
