Timing starts when I first control Gex and timing ends when the "Congratulations!" screen appears after the blackout of the final boss. Final time is around 2:18:59.89. RTA timing is around 2:19:07.68.

My first ever sub 2:20 run. A time that I thought was impossible to get back in 2015 when I first sub 2:30 for the first time. Glad to bring this game this low after all these years of playing this category on and off. :)

Recently in the past few months, there has been this huge discovery called “Slide TV Cancel” where you can slide onto a TV’s green pad and during the animation, you can jump or duck when you are on it while still collecting the remote. This also works in Gex 2. Here is a video that explains how this works:

Compared to my 2:22:00 run gameplay wise, this is overall not that good of a run that I want to improve in the future. Unfortunately I failed the first TV cancel in FairyTales TV in this run, loosing nearly 2 minutes. I also didn’t even get the frame perfect TV cancel in Holy Moses loosing another minute. I still need to implement optimal strats and some parts were played badly but sub 2:20 is a great milestone to hit. Sub 2:15 is possible with a great run. Fast disk speed wasn’t working as well but it could be the slim 75k console that I now have.

While this new discovery saves a lot of time in this category compared to my last run up here, it also makes the 2nd half of this category way more grueling and punishing. You need to rely on getting a lot more TV cancels or else you’ll loose minutes since the cancels intertwine with the 100 fly coin routes. You can't let the nerves get to you at all or else you'll fail TV cancels later on in the run.
