This TV cancel using the dwarf can be useful in a 100% run. Although slower by about 20 seconds, this would eliminate risking the whole run to a 1 frame trick when going for the 1 cycle Mythology Network (You can also try this on the normal original route where you visit the level 3 times). I found many setups such as this one: First get the dwarf to be in front of the TV and move Gex to the right of the green button having the camera face the TV. Have Gex jump in between the green button and the TV. Gex should be sliding to the left by himself now. Try to have the TV as horizontally straight as possible with the camera. That is to avoid the dwarf missing you with his attack. It is important to note that as Gex moves left, the dwarf will move left. Then you have Gex jump twice in a row. At the end of the first jump when Gex does his second jump, Gex will be pushed slightly to the dwarf that causes the dwarf to attack. On his second jump, it is all about the timing on holding the down button and tailwhipping at the right time. I don’t seem to get consistent at all with this setup but it is worth pointing out since you can manipulate more things such as making the dwarf hit you more accurately rather then Gex being too much to the left or the right for any kind of a hit.

The Dwarf always respawns when you death abuse in this level. The dwarf’s attack radius of hitting you is more precise then it looks. Due to how bad the dwarf is programmed to hit you and how easily the dwarf can move in any directions, I found no consistent ways yet. An idea that is worth trying out is to have Gex run at full speed first and then tailwhip onto the green button since he will have more momentum and travel more distances.

The dwarf also isn’t meant to be in the area of the TV since there is an invisible boundary blocking him as shown in the video. But I found a way around that. You can freeze the dwarf with the icy fly power up and you can push the ice block to the TV area. You can make any ice block last longer by simply spitting at it again with the ice fly power up. The block can actually be in the TV and when it breaks, the dwarf moves again and he is past that boundary as long as he doesn’t pass it again going the other way. He can pretty much be in the TV as if the TV doesn’t exist to his hit box. But still even with this, I can't find anything consistent enough. I even tried to get him to kill Gex while the dwarf is in the TV and push Gex up with his attack to the green button but it was no use. Maybe with a good enough setup when the dwarf is near or in the green button, timing his attack to kill Gex when Gex is on top of the button (with just frames away from activating it) could work well with some precise timing.

Here is my current Rainbow TV Cancel setup. You hold only the up button for Gex to go against the green pad until the Rezling is facing towards the TV when the Rezling is behind Gex. Then you let go of the run button and jump straight after. Recently I found out that holding the X button while jumping could have a better chance of Gex landing on the green button.

With the “Collect Three Golden Apples” TV, you can actually lure the skeleton warrior to the side where the TV is at and then jump onto the platform without bouncing on the skeleton and TV cancel off of that TV right into the skeleton but it’s highly inconsistent. You can possibly make use of the Harpy that is flying to the left of the TV but I haven’t had much time experimenting on that.

Hopefully in the future there will be a highly consistent setup with the dwarf TV Cancel because then Mythology Network would be so much better in 100% speedruns. Here is my guide to that category.

Here are other things that I found throughout Gex 2 and 3 that I still need to make videos about them.

I found a new Funky Town 100 fly coin remote route that saves around 25 seconds but it extremely tight on time. In Gex 2, in Mao Tse Tongue, you can activate all of the black ninjas at the end of the "Defeat the Deadly Dragon" mission just by going to the height where the dragon is at and dropping back down. It saves seconds in a 100% run but is harder to do the area fast and well.

Thanks for watching this video and reading all of this!
