Abandoned mines often have inclined shafts in them that go deep underground. The Gunsite Mine is no exception, so I joined up with some other explorers a long time ago and finally explored this former lead mine that nearly every other abandoned mine explorer has been in multiple times over the years. To reach the inclined shaft, we had to traverse the 1000-foot long main haulage tunnel. After exploring it and some of its branches, we found the shaft and descended to a couple lower areas that led into huge stopes on each side of the shaft. This was one of the most dusty and dirtiest mines we have ever been in. Dust masks are essential in this one!
