The homemade ore chute I found at the abandoned Hilton Mine is about 750-feet long making it one of the longest chutes I have ever seen at an abandoned mine. Most of the chute has fallen over and is no longer in one continuous piece as it makes its way down the mountainside. Finding and seeing this structure up close only makes one appreciate the extraordinary lengths the old-time miners went to so that they could transport their ore down the mountain.

Gold, talc, and soapstone were mined at the Hilton Mine, but the main focus seemed to be on the talc and soapstone. Workings consist of a 200-foot long tunnel as well as smaller workings higher on the mountain.
