Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder - Arcade - Intro & Playthrough as Dora & Ending [4K60]
Full gameplay, longplay, playthrough, walkthrough & guide & trueplay of the SEGA System 32 arcade game from SEGA AM1. It seems odd the arcade follow up to Golden Axe took so long with the first sequel Golden Axe II arriving on Mega Drive / Genesis first. A impressive looking game with some great new gameplay elements like team attacks and branch routes, an enjoyable follow up and certainly better than Golden Axe II. But it reuses far too much in game and it's easy to argue that both Golden Axe III and Golden Axe The Duel are better games.
Certainly the best looking of the scrolling beat'em ups in the series. The game introduces four new players characters battle against Death Adder. Stern, Trix, Dora and Goah ridden by Gilius Thunderhead. Gilius is also the only character to appear in all the main titles in the franchise, even if he does only cameo in some.
Each characters has their own sets of magic like before Stern is fire, Trix creates healing apples, Goah is stone and Dora is Lightning. Added to that stern and Goah magic do a close up view and you can see them being turned to stone or having their faces burned off.
The stage design is excellent with each having their own feel and look and it's worth replay once to see all the different stages in the game. Where it falls down is the lack of variate in the enemies, there isn't many of them and the bosses are repeated far to much for the length of the game.
The game is rather unbalanced as well, mainly aimed for four players and is very tough in single player. Trix is by far the best solo character to use due to his heal magic and smaller hit area. As a whole it doesn't feel as well thought out as the original which was superbly balanced and paced in comparison. Sadly the game never got a home port it was too early for the SEGA Saturn and too complex for the Mega Drive / Genesis. The emulated version on the Astro City Mini is the first time it's been available to buy for home users.
