Another Grandia game, another hard type hack to attempt going through. The latest update (PC version only) can be picked up here:

Well folks, here's the fight you all were probably waiting for. Valmar's Core proves to be a huge pain in the ass with a wide variety of damaging attacks and three annoying heads.

First off, the core itself has a physical attack that can do ~4000 damage and induce plague. Pretty nasty.

Its skills...oh lord its skills. Dead Claw can inflict instant death or do ~2000 damage, Hammer Claw can hit anyone caught in its path for ~3300+ damage and lower defense 1 by level, and Day of Judgement smacks your entire party for ~4000 damage and lowers attack by 1 level.

It also has one support spell which doesn't have a name, but it's something that damn near every late game Grandia 1 boss had. Yeah I'm talking about Vanish. It is no less annoying in this game than the first one. Thankfully it doesn't seem to spam it over and over all the time.

As for the three heads...Middle Head is slower than hell and uses Destruction Beam every turn to do ~2400+ damage to those caught in its path. The damage is pretty nasty, but the low speed of the head means you won't be seeing the attack too often.

Right Head can heal everyone for 2000+ with Alhealer...and loves to spam said skill at times. It also has Zap All to hit everyone for 3000 damage or so. That's not nice!

Left Head uses a variety of magic, but it never quite reaches the level of damage the other targets can dish out. It may break 2000 damage with spells like Howlslash or Burnstrike, but otherwise you can largely ignore this head unless it charges up a non spell related attack. In that case, cancel it before it fires off.

Best strategy here, tight as it will be early on, is to whittle away at the Right Head until it dies (Did I mention every part has massive amounts of HP?), then focus on the core itself. With the threat of Zap All out of the way, you just need to keep your HP high so its attacks don't kick your tail.

The epic battle continues in Part II folks!
