Grandia ReDux is a hack that modifies many things in game. Character stats are greatly changed, skills are buffed/nerfed, equipment changed, new items/spells, and most importantly, the difficulty has been rebalanced to provide a more challenging game overall.

Head here to find patches for both discs:

ISOs should be easy enough to find on your own.

Welp, it's here...two more bosses and this game is finished.

...But of course, Gaia Core is even more of a nightmare than Baal 3 was. Figures, right?

Gaia Core has 29999 HP, high Vit (1000), and high magic resistances. Besides Vanish (OF COURSE!), it primarily attacks with magic spells. Fireburner, BOOM-POW!, Zap All, and Quake are just some of the damaging spells it barfs out. Everything minus Fireburner can hit for 100-220 damage to everyone while Fireburner can hit for more like 350-500 damage.

...Yeah, I hate you Fireburner.

That's not what makes this fight a living hell. There's two Mega Gaias assisting it. Both have 19999 HP, slightly lower Vit and magic resistances, and serve to kick your ass.

First off, they can summon Gaia Minions. They have 8000 HP, very low defenses, and their only attack is a normal strike doing some damage and inducing Poison.

Seems tame, but the Mega Gaias can gain access to a bunch of attacks if there's a ton of Gaia Minions around.

With 2 Gaia Minions, Spin Strike can be used, hitting an area for some light damage and a chance of inducing Confusion. The damage from this can be lowered with Diggin' if you so choose.

At 3 Minions, Mega Gaias can now use Death Tornado, hitting a single target for 250-300 damage. Ouch.

If it reaches 4 or more Minions, that's when the whammy comes out to screw you into next Tuesday in the form of The End. This hits the entire party for around 300+ damage. Basically, your screwed if this gets used too much.

So yeah, this is not good.

Luckily, before this fight, you can utilize a Stashing Place. This is the time to break out those Revival Stones that have been taking up space in there. You should have 7 of them by now. Everyone gets one, then the last 3 should be thrown on Justin, Rapp, and Feena. Liete's defenses should hopefully let her live with only one stone to burn.

After that, fill up with Deep Blue Potions, Golden Potions, a Mage Lips for each character, and 1-2 Res Potions for each character.

Time for battle now. Basically, I just aim to drop the Gaia Core before I get too overwhelmed.

The usual should happen here, but Feena got her turn first so I decided to have her open with a WOW! on Rapp.

Liete throws the Mage Lips on Feena, then her task is to assist in dropping the Core.

Rapp & Justin open up with Def-Loss to bring down the Core's Vit.

Feena then fires up Time Gate, buffs Justin with WOW!, then boosts him and Rapp with Boost, then uses a Deep Blue Potion to use Protect. Who you throw this on is a good question. I usually throw it on Rapp so I have someone who can attack with minimal interrputions. Liete, if she gets a chance, can throw off a Protect too.

After this, Feena keeps people the hell alive here, throwing out Golden Potions/Deep Blue Potions as needed. Don't be afraid to sacrifice a Revival Stone if it means getting anyone another chance to use their signature killer move.

After this, it's basically a damage race and praying the Mega Gaias act in a favorable way, namely not summoning until the cows come home followed by The End spammage.

With Gaia Core's fall comes the end of the first final fight. You guessed it, there's one more fight to go through. The game just loves finding ways to kick you in the pants, doesn't it?
