Halo 4 (The Master Chief Collection) - Part 8
0Part 8 of Halo 4. In this video, I finish Reclaimer and begin Shutdown. Master Chief must get to the gravity well and destroy it.
Still inside the Forerunner structure, Master Chief retrieves Cortana and fights off Promethean forces as he makes his way to the elevator. The Librarian filled Cortana in on what the Didact is after, but doesn't know what she did to the Chief. He takes a portal to exit the facility and is instantly taken to a battlefield outside of the gravity well, where Marines are taking on Covenant troops. Del Rio tasks the Marines with finding the Chief coordinates for him to paint the gravity well with the target designator. Master Chief takes a Scorpion and uses it to take down Covenant vehicles as he makes his way to the gravity well. Coming across a Covenant shield blocking the way to the gravity well, the Chief destroys the two shielded generators and makes his way to the gravity well. He picks up the target designator, and paints the gravity well. Infinity's fired projectile hits the gravity well, destroying it with a clean shot. Back on Infinity, Master Chief and Del Rio have yet another argument, and Cortana experiences a rampant episode that sends out a wave of energy and causes displays to spark. Del Rio orders Lasky to remove Cortana's chip and be euthanized in a process known as "final dispensation", but the Chief takes the chip before Lasky does. An angered Del Rio orders for the Chief to be arrested. Chief tells Lasky to get the word back to Earth and leaves the deck.
As the Chief prepares for his next mission, Cortana wants the Chief to promise that before this is over, he'll figure out who the machine is between himself and Cortana. Master Chief's explains to Lasky that Infinity's tracked the Didact's vessel to a docking structure, and that he'll jump ship as Infinity exits the roof. Lasky says that he ordered a Pelican, ready for combat pursuit. As the Infinity prepares to leave the Requiem, the Chief and Cortana board the Pelican. The Pelican boosts forward, out of the tunnel and into the open. The Didact's Cryptum is at the center, surrounded by an orange energy field. Cortana marks two of the larger facilities on the Chief's HUD, explaining that they are acting as traffic control for resources moving to and from the satellite. She adds that if they can disrupt their communications, she can forge an override code and convince it to lower those defenses. Master Chief takes the left tower and enters the main chamber. Master Chief activates the anti-gravity gondola and makes his way to the carrier wave generator. Cortana’s plan is reminiscent of the Two Betrayals mission in Combat Evolved: Master Chief must make physical contact with the generator for Cortana to emit an EMP blast that will destroy it. The gondola suddenly stops as the Covenant have overridden the controls, forcing the Chief to fight them and find the override. Master Chief reaches the switch and makes it back to the gondola and Promethean forces emerge. The Chief is forced to make another stop to fight off Prometheans. Master Chief eventually makes it to the carrier wave generator, entering the energy field and triggering the EMP. He leaves the tower and makes it back to the Pelican, flying to the second tower. Cortana explains that there is more comm traffic passing through this tower than just what's servicing the Didact's satellite, and that the systems use data attenuators to regulate the flow of communications. Destroying them would drown out the towers' transmissions, and the towers' instructions to the Didact's shields would be drowned in noise. The Chief enters the main chamber, finding and activating the switch. The Chief finds that the structure contains three central attenuators, and they must sever all three connections. Taking out Prometheans on his way, he takes down all three attenuators.
