Haruhi Grappler is (as you probably guessed) a fighting game based on the popular "Haruhi Suzumiya" series. There are light novels and various other things associated with Haruhi that I can't be bothered to explain here. I can say that the game has no real dialogue in which to speak of. Basically put, if you don't know who Haruhi is, then this game isn't going to further your understanding.

Being made by D.C.S. in 2007 (the same group responsible for various games like Enfai! Materia, the hentai and/or ryona fighting game Goddess' Blazon, Kizuna Fighters Zero, etc.), this particular game isn't very impressive. Characters have a fairly limited assortment of moves and only one super move and there aren't many characters to begin with. "Kyon's Sister" (the character at the end of the character roster) was a character that was added to the game after it originally came out, but since then, the game has seen no other improvements.

The game centers itself around air combos and all characters can multi-jump to extend their air combos. You can perform air recoveries, air block, guard cancels, etc..but despite this (due in part to the limited amount of special attacks), the game doesn't have too much going for it. The character movesets aren't interesting in any way (unless you are amused by hitting your opponent with a giant fist). The game is being sold on DLsite, but Enfai! Materia is a better game...even if some combos can deal massive damage in that game.
