Welcome to Episode 1 of event[0] full playthrough! This is a brand new first-person exploration game that asks us to speak with a ship’s AI through text-based terminal. I’m very excited about this game, and hope you will joint me for this event[0] blind playthough. In this first episode, we learn the tragic backstory of the Europa-11 mission and meet Kaizen (the AI) for the first time. So come and let’s play event[o] blind!

A quick shout out to the fine folks at Ocelot Society (the developers) for trusting enough in my small channel to give me a preview code for the game. That said, keep in mind that for this episode I’m playing a pre-release build and so there may be some bugs that won’t be present in the final version. (Ocelot Society have been pushing daily patches and updates to the game, so I have no doubt about their commitment to this game!)

In Episode 1 of the event[0] (event-zero) playthrough, I choose the backstory of my character and learn that I’m (apparently) the only survivor of the Europa-11 mission. My escape pod docks with a seemingly abandoned space cruise ship that, I quickly learn, is controlled by an AI called Kaizen. The episode ends as I introduce myself and find a way out of the airlock. Event[0] is a fascinating game, not only because you need to think about what to ask/say to Kaizen, but because it’s very atmospheric. I can’t wait to see what else happens in my event[0] full playthrough as I continue to explore the ship!

This series will focus on a full, blind playthrough of event[0] in a way that tries to explore everything and learn all the lore. In a word, this event[0] blind walkthrough series will try to really find out what happened in this alternate timeline, what happened on the Nautilus-class ship, and what really happened to the crew that Kaizen keeps mentioning. We will see how the novel mechanic affects the event[0] gameplay and it’ll also likely serve as an event[0] review. So come and let’s play event[0] blind! (And I won't hold it against you if you came looking for let's play event 0.)

From the Developers:

Event[0] is an award-winning narrative exploration game where you must build a relationship with a lonely spaceship computer to get home. Set in a retrofuture inspired by sci-fi classics such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, the game is about forging a personal relationship with your only companion, an insecure AI entity capable of procedurally generating over two million lines of dialog. You interact with the computer, named Kaizen, by typing messages on terminals throughout the ship. The reality of your situation will emerge organically as you communicate with Kaizen and explore the mysterious ship in first-person perspective.

You’ll freely navigate evocative 3D environments brought to life with physics-based rendering and advanced lighting techniques. You’ll examine items to gather information and solve hacking puzzles as you progress. You can even leave the ship for breathtakingly scary spacewalks! All sound and music come from the environment; there is no traditional score. The ship is essentially the AI computer’s body, and reacts to Kaizen’s feelings by making different sounds—pay attention for clues!

As in any relationship, there can be gratitude, disappointment, or jealousy, and Kaizen reacts differently depending on its mood. By working through the fears and anxieties of your virtual companion, you can eventually find your way back to Earth—while unraveling the cryptic history of the ship and the 1980s society from which it emerged.

More from the devs (edited):

Type like your life depends on it as Event[0], the story-driven spacefaring adventure in which players must build a relationship with a lonely spaceship computer to get home, launches today.

Set in a retrofuture inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris and Brave New World, Event[0] is a game about building a personal relationship with a machine using natural language. As a player, your only companion is an insecure and unstable AI entity named Kaizen, with whom you interact by typing messages using antiquated computer terminals throughout a desolated spacecraft. The game’s multi-layered story emerges organically as players communicate with Kaizen, freely explore 3D environments, gather information and solve hacking puzzles.

As in any relationship, there can be gratitude, disappointment or jealousy, and Kaizen reacts differently depending on its mood and the situation at hand. The ship, Nautilus, is essentially the AI computer’s body, and reacts to Kaizen’s mood by making different sounds, which gives the player subtle yet valuable clues.
