Had to interrupt the Darkening run 'cause of this. It's hard to say exactly why I quite like the mapset, 'cause half of it feels like spoiling what happens as the player goes further in the set. It gets a bit funny, I'll say. Had to also revert to an earlier version of HDest (hence why I specifically noted the version in the video), but it's worth it. I'll first start to mention how gorgeous the architecture can be.

Yes, you might notice that a fair bit of the layouts are remixes of familiar vanilla maps. However, just like Doom Redux in the past, the way Bryan recontexts them can really stun me at times. Really glad that there's zero mandatory secrets, too, even if it takes a bit of learning to figure out how to use the retinal scanners and the PCs. That's not even getting to the interactibles in the first map alone.

Wall cabinets that seems to be randomized per-run, the aforementioned retical scanners (that can be used in multiple ways beyond how I do it in this run), the typewriters in safe rooms that you can save with (that I didn't use 'cause this is an NFR run), laser tripwires that set off enemy ambushes, the list goes on. It may not be a completely finished mapset, sorry to say, but what's here is remarkable.
