Hideous Destructor | Epistle 3 | No Failure Runs | Part 2 FINALE
An amusing thing happened during The Borealis map. For reasons I couldn't understand, the doors leading to the back of the boat have all been given impassable flags. Meaning that you can't actually beat it, even in vanilla GZD. I wondered then if this was intended to be played in other sourceports and GZD just happened to got lucky up to this point.
Fortunately, HDest has a counter to this by having a setting essentially allow you to break linedefs with those attached as if they're "windows", complete with transparent dirt textures. Unfortunately, I have it disabled by default 'cause I generally don't like the windows look in maps with a lot of impassable lines. As a result, I had to start a new run in the Borealis map itself, hence why you'll see my equipment being reset to good ol' Rifleman.
Anyways, that'll be it for Epistle 3. Yeah, the last map pretty much just spams you with cyberdemons and spider masterminds. Dunno if you could clear that in vanilla, but considering the E1M8-like ending, probably not. It's for the most part pretty enjoyable, if a bit simplistic level design-wise, with the second map giving me the most trouble with that voodoo doll. No mandatory secrets or whatnot.
