NAM/NAPALM: Tangerine Edition | Platoon | No Failure Runs | Part 1
No WotW for the week as I'm currently on vacation, apologies for people that are expecting my LPs. Also sorry for not responding to comments or removing spam in the time while I'm away. To fill in the gap until I return, I'll be setting these scheduled vids on. A run through of a mapset that's pretty much a port of TNT Team's earlier work, Platoon TC, to NAM!
Kinda amusing that something like this is possible thanks to how fitting most of NAM's assets on PTC itself. There's some things that I notice missing like the briefings on the chalkboard, or the broken ending, but for the most part this mapset's completely 1:1 to the original. I do wonder if the process itself was easy or if NAM moved stuff around, we wouldn't need this port if you could just jam PTC's maps on to NAM's willy nilly.
Being the predecessor to NAM, Platoon TC has a lot of encounters that are going to be very familiar if you haven't played the former but have the latter. Not quite entire maps nicked, thankfully, but the encounter design are just as cheaply designed to punish first timers. Random explosions with practically no warning, enemies hidden behind bushes, enemies spawning behind you, all there and accounted for. It's not gonna be as visible in Alpha Bravo, but the moment Ambush on Highway One pops on, the floodgates for nonsense is opened wide.
