Hitman: Absolution boasts a grim and foreboding atmosphere, the game's levels have a mesmerizing attention to detail and there's just an incredible sense of place which few other polygonal 3D games can even begin to compete with. Too bad, then, that A) the gameplay is pretty frustrating and favors trial-and-error even in the best of circumstances, and B) I just can't stop myself from playing the game in an infuriatingly perfectionist manner.

Here's a video of me sneaking through The Library undetected with zero casualities on the 5th and most challenging difficulty level ("Purist") which means no radar, no on-screen detection indicators, no saves/checkpoints during missions, no recharging Instinct and, well, you get the idea. Since I absolutely suck at stealth games, figuring out how to execute these six short minutes of fairly basic gameplay successfully with just the right timing took me several hours of real time. I must really hate myself...
