In the past I did a Counter Technique Solo for Digimon World; a challenge where I was only allowed to use Counter. I wasn't allowed to use any other technique, nor was I allowed to use finishes or even attack while flattened. The only way I was able to inflict damage upon opposing Digimon was by using Counter. In that challenge I reached a point where I didn't think that I was able to go any further, and I had less than 50 Prosperity Points at the time. I then decided to alter the rules so that I was allowed to use finishes when fighting Digimon who physically couldn't be beaten with just Counter. This led to me finishing with 98 Prosperity Points, with Garurumon being the missing recruit.

Since then I have realised that it is in fact possible to reach (and exceed) 50 Prosperity Points while only using Counter; when I got stuck last time there were more recruits that I could've made which I wasn't aware of at the time. Therefore, I decided to start this challenge; a challenge where I aim to go as far as I can go while only using Counter. I'm not allowed to make any alterations; Counter is what I am restricted to for the whole of the challenge.

The reason why this is such a challenge is because Counter is not a technique that you can attack directly with. Instead, you need opposing Digimon to use certain techniques against you, and then it's possible for you to stop their attack and strike them with Counter. This means that in order for me to be able to damage opposing Digimon I would need for them to have a technique that Counter can work against. I would need them to use the technique against me, and I would need to be successful with getting them with Counter. I believe that Counter can only work against the following techniques:
Sonic Jab
Dynamite Kick
Megaton Punch
Poison Claw
Danger Sting
Static Electric
Horizontal Kick

I began the challenge with Gabumon. I Digivolved to Drimogemon and learned Counter by training brains. I was then able to defeat the Agumon in the Native Forest and have access to other parts of the game. With Drimogemon as my Digimon I made it up to 32 Prosperity Points, recruiting Agumon, Betamon, Centarumon, Coelamon, Bakemon, Penguinmon, Sukamon, Biyomon, Elecmon, Unimon, Kunemon, Palmon, Meramon, Patamon, Gabumon, Seadramon, Greymon, Kabuterimon, Kuwagamon, Monochromon and Vegiemon. I obtained a Mouldy Meat, HappyMushroom and Hispeed Disk from the Amida Forest while pursuing Centarumon. The Mouldy Meat was reserved as an item to make a suitable Digimon sick in Freezeland so that Frigimon will rescue us, thus taking the first step towards recruiting Frigimon. The HappyMushroom and Hispeed Disk were traded with the Mojyamons in Freezeland. I managed to encounter Cherrymon at the Misty Trees despite not defeating Otamamon or accessing the Volume Villa. I defeated Tyrannomon and Meteormon but didn't recruit Tyrannomon there and then; I wanted Meramon to be the only Digimon working at the restaurant for the time being.

After Drimogemon faded away I chose the pink egg and had Yuramon hatch from it. I took Yuramon to freezeland, made her sick with the Mouldy Meat and got rescued by Frigimon. I then recruited Mojyamon before returning to the City. I took advantage of the Tanemon Bug and upgraded the whole of the Green Gym before Digivolving to Palmon. I continued to train and Digivolved from Palmon to Numemon. With Numemon I saw to the initial part of Grey Lord's Mansion and collected all of the items that are there. I then took Numemon to Toy Town and Digivolved to Monzaemon. I spoke to the Robot Digimon so that he unlocked the door which leads towards WaruMonzaemon, making him available for battle later on.

I returned to the City with Monzaemon and passed the time until he faded away. I chose the yellow egg and Digivolved from Poyomon to Tokomon to Patamon to Angemon to Andromon. With Andromon as my Digimon I went from 34 Prosperity Points to 63 Prosperity Points, recruiting Ninjamon, Drimogemon, Tyrannomon, Mamemon, Piximon, Frigimon, Monzaemon, Angemon, Kokatorimon, Leomon, Etemon and MegaDramon. I wasn't able to defeat Airdramon under these restrictions, and defeating Airdramon is usually a requirement for having access to Mt Infinity. However, by using an Auto-Pilot after speaking to Jijimon about Mt Infinity I was able to avoid Airdramon and enter Mt Infinity. I managed to defeat Devimon, and then MegaDramon. I scored Prosperity Points for Megadramon but not Devimon; you don't earn the points for Devimon until after you defeat Machinedramon, same with Airdramon and MetalGreymon.

I don't believe that I can go any further than 63 Prosperity Points as I don't think that there are any more Digimon that I can recruit under these restrictions. If you would like to check out my other Counter Solo Challenge then see the following link:
