About this video: In this video, we show you how to download and install mods on a Minecraft server in 1.16.4. This will allow you to play Minecraft 1.16.4 mods with your friends. From mods like Botania and World Edit to even modpacks, you can play any mods that you want when installing them how we install mods on servers in this video. Thus, without any more delay, here is how to add mods to a Minecraft server in Minecraft 1.16.4!
The first step of getting mods on your Minecraft 1.16.4 server is actually creating a Forge server. If you don’t have a Forge server, you can’t add mods to your server. You can find our in-depth Forge server tutorial linked in the description above. If you do not setup a Forge server using the tutorial above, you will not be able to add mods to your Minecraft server. You must have a Forge server to get mods on your server in 1.16.4.
After you have your Forge server setup, it is time to download the mods for your Minecraft server in 1.16.4. Most mods will work on a server in Minecraft 1.16.4. Every mod is different though, so be sure to test mods one at a time when adding them to your server to make sure they are compliant. You can find the mods we are installing in the description above. All of those mods are confirmed working by us.
Now that you have your mods downloaded, it is time to install them on your server. This is actually really simple. To add mods to a Minecraft server in 1.16.4, just open up your main server folder, and you will see a ‘mods’ folder. If you don't have a mods folder, you don't have a Forge server. Set one up with our tutorial in the description above. Open up your server's mods folder, and drag-and-drop the mods you want to install into your mods folder. Then, start your server. It's that easy.
You aren’t completely done though. You still need to download and install any mods locally as well. Just hit the Windows key and ‘R’ at the same time. That will open up the Run app. Type ‘%appdata%’, and hit enter. That will open your roaming folder. Open the .minecraft folder, and you will see a ‘mods’ folder. Open that, and drag-and-drop the mods you have on your server into this folder as well.
At this point, all you need to do is open up Minecraft with Forge and start your server. Then, you are done. When you join your server, the mods you have installed will be in game and working.
