The first step of adding Minecraft Maps to 1.16.4 is downloading them. Luckily, we have an in-depth list of 15 custom maps you can choose from linked in the description above. After you have your Minecraft map downloaded, it is time to get it installed. The first thing you need to do is make sure you have the correct folder for your map. To do this, right click, on the file you downloaded, and click on ‘Extract’. Then, click ‘Extract All’. This will then create a new folder on your desktop that will most likely have the name of the map you want to install. Open that, and keep clicking through the folders until you see things like ‘data’, ‘DIM1’, and ‘DIM-1’. Then, click the back arrow in the top right of your file browser. Now, drag and drop the folder on this screen to your desktop.
You can now delete any files and folders of the map from your desktop other than the one you just dragged to your desktop. Finally, we can learn how to install Minecraft maps in 1.16.4. Starting off, hit the Windows Key on your keyboard and ‘R’ at the exact same time. This will open up the Run application. In this application, type ‘%appdata%’, and hit enter. Your roaming folder will then open. Next, open the .minecraft folder. You will then see a saves folder.
Open your saves folder, and drag-and-drop the custom map you want to install into this saves folder. Then, open up the folder you just added and make sure it has the ‘DIM-1’ folder. If it does, you are good to go!
Now, just open up Minecraft 1.16.4, click on single player, and your Minecraft map will be there. Double click to open it. It may warn it is for an older version, just click ‘I know what I’m doing’. And just like that, you are done!
