The first step of getting Minecraft 1.16.4 mods is downloading and installing Forge. You can find our in-depth guide for setting up Forge 1.16.4 in the description above. Once you have Forge installed, it is time to learn how to download mods for Minecraft PC 1.16.4. You can find the mods we are installing in this video linked above, and we also have our Top 5 mods video linked above as well. You may notice that some of these mods are for 1.16.3 - the previous version of Minecraft. However, the reason for this is that most 1.16.3 mods work in 1.16.4 without any major updates. This isn’t true 100% of the time, but it is very common. Thus, you may need to use trial and error when installing older mods in Minecraft 1.16.4.
Most mods are found on CurseForge, and their versions are clearly listed there. You can find the download on the right-hand side of these pages. Just scroll down, and you’ll see a ‘Minecraft 1.16’ section. If there is a Minecraft 1.16.4 version of the mod you want to install, it will be listed here. However, trying the 1.16.3 version of a mod could be worth as it they have been know to occasionally work.
After you have your Minecraft mods downloaded, we can install mods on Minecraft 1.16.4 for for PC. It’s actually really easy. Just open up Minecraft with Forge, which you can find out how to do in our Forge tutorial. From the Minecraft main menu, click on the ‘mods’ tab. This will open up the mods menu. Once you have Minecraft 1.16.4 mods installed, they will all be show here. To install mods on Minecraft PC, click on the ‘Open Mods Folder’ button in the bottom right of the mods menu. Your mods folder will open. Now, just drag-and-drop any Minecraft mods for 1.16.4 into this mods folder. It’s that easy.
Now, if you come back to Minecraft, your mods won’t be there. You will actually need to close out of Minecraft, and open Minecraft again with Forge in order to have your mods installed. When you do this though, you will be able to open your mods tab and see the mods you installed. They will also be available in game to be played!
