Backing up your PS5 game saves to the cloud is a critical step to ensure you never lose your progress, especially if you upgrade your console or a disaster happens. The "best method" is to use the automatic sync feature, which is a benefit of a PlayStation Plus subscription.

The Best Method: Enabling Auto-Sync (Requires PS Plus)
This is the most reliable and hands-off method. Once enabled, your PS5 will automatically upload your game saves to the cloud whenever you close a game or put your console into Rest Mode.

From the PS5 home screen, go to Settings (the gear icon in the top-right corner).

Select Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
Choose Saved Data (PS5).
Select Sync Saved Data.

Toggle on Auto-Sync Saved Data.
