How to HEAR People in GAME Chat & Switch on Settings PS5 (Best Method)
Hearing people in a game's voice chat on PS5 can be a bit tricky, especially if you're used to the party chat system. The most common reason for not hearing in-game chat is that you're still connected to a party chat. The best method is to ensure you're prioritizing the game's audio and that no settings are muting it.
The Best Method: Switching from Party Chat to Game Chat
The most direct way to hear people in a game's voice chat is to leave your PS5 party chat. The PS5 will automatically prioritize party chat audio over in-game chat.
Press the PlayStation button on your controller to open the Control Center at the bottom of the screen.
Navigate to the Game Base icon (it looks like two chat bubbles with the PS logo).
Go to the Parties tab and select the party you're currently in.
At the top of the party screen, you will see a dropdown menu that shows the name of your current chat channel.
Select this option, and a menu will appear. Choose the "Game Voice Chat" option to switch over to the in-game chat.
You will now be communicating with the players in your game instead of your party. The PS5 will also show a notification that says "Voice chat switched to game voice chat."
Note: If you are not in a party, your console should automatically be set to the game's voice chat.
