About this video: In this video, we show you exactly how to make Minecraft run faster in 2022. This will result in a pretty large Minecraft FPS boost for most computers including lower-end PCs and laptops. Because of this, we encourage you to get a before FPS reading. To see your FPS in Minecraft just simple hit the F3 key on your board. Then, in the top right you will see a low FPS number and a high FPS number. Take note of these because after this video, you get much more FPS in Minecraft 2022.
Before we can make Minecraft less laggy, we will need to download and install Optifine. The good news is that we have a complete guide on how to get Optifine. It goes over the common issues you may have when installing Optifine and how to fix them as well. Truthfully, there is no better guide out there for downloading and install Optifine in 2022.
With Optifine installed, open up the Minecraft launcher. We need to begin by going over your RAM. You can do this by clicking ‘Installations’ at the top of the Minecraft launcher, hovering over the Optifine version, click the three dots, and clicking edit. Then, scroll down and click ‘More Options’. The first number under ‘JVM Arguments’ is the amount of RAM you have. By default it is 2GB. Depending on your PC changing this to 4GB could be good. We have an in-depth RAM video in the description above if you want more information on it.
After setting your RAM, open up Minecraft with Optifine. Then, open up your options. Now, click on resource packs and make sure all of them but the default resource pack are removed. There is no real reason to try to increase performance by adding in another texture pack for Minecraft to load.
Back on the Minecraft main menu, click on ‘Options’ and ‘Video Settings’. This is where you can get the most out of your Minecraft performance. In the video settings page, the general rule of thumb is everything needs to be turned off, to the 'fast' setting, or all the way down.
Specifically, graphics should be turn to fast, render distance needs to be turned all the way down to 2, smoothing lighting should be turned off, simulation distance should be turned to 5, smooth lighting level can be turned all the way down, entity shadows can be turned off, and dynamic lights need to be turned off. We then recommend turning framerate to unlimited to get the highest frame rate possible in Minecraft 2022.
Now, you need to go through all of the other menus in Video Settings. Shaders need to be set to off. In the Quality section, everything needs to be set to off. In details, you can set everything to off except trees and vignette. Those should be set to fast. Entity distance also needs to be set to 50%. Moving to Performance, everything needs to be turned on here actually. These are going to really improve the graphic coding of Minecraft. In the Animations tab, just click the 'All Off' button.
Finally, you are good to jump back in Minecraft and see what your FPS. Post your new Minecraft FPS in the comments.
