About this video: This video will show you exactly how to download and install Forge 1.18.1 in Minecraft. We truly show you exactly how to get Minecraft Forge 1.18.1. This includes downloading Forge 1.18.1 from the official website and installing it in Minecraft in order to get Forge mods for Minecraft 1.18.1! We even go over some of the issues you may have when adding Forge to Minecraft making this the complete tutorial on setting Forge for Minecraft 1.18.1!
First things first, we need to get started by downloading Forge 1.18.1. There is a link in the description above to our text tutorial for getting Forge. Click that, and once you are there, scroll down the page and click the green ‘Download Forge’ button. Clicking this button will take you to the Minecraft Forge 1.18.1 download page. On this page, make sure 1.18.1 is selected on the right-hand sidebar. Then, under ‘Download Latest’, click ‘Installer’. That will take you to Ad Focus.
When you are on Ad Focus wait about 10 seconds and a red ‘Skip’ button will appear in the top right corner. Click this button, and Forge will start downloading. Do not click anything else other than the red Skip button on Ad Focus. Most likely, you will need to save or keep the file if you are on Google Chrome or Firefox. As long as Forge is in the title of the file, it is 100% safe!
With the Forge 1.18.1 installer downloaded, we can move on to how to install Forge 1.18.1 in Minecraft. Before we do that though, it is recommended that you download and install Java 17. Forge for 1.18+ requires Java 17. The good news is that we have a complete guide to getting Java 17 in the description above.
Once you have the correct version of Java, you should just be able to double-click on the Forge installer and open it. If you do have issues though, we have another way to open up the Forge Installer 1.18.1 in the video. With the Forge Installer open, just click the ‘Install’ button in the bottom of the installer. You will then get a pop-up that Forge is installing. Once it is finished, you will get a message that Forge is successfully installed. If you do have issues, just go play Minecraft 1.18.1, come back, and you will be able to install Forge.
At this point, Forge 1.18.1 is installed. Before you jump right into Minecraft though, you need to make sure the Forge installation is selected. Just click the arrow next to the play button, select Forge, and click Play. Confirm that you are playing modded Minecraft, and click play again. Minecraft Forge 1.18.1 will open up!
