In this video, we show you exactly how to get a new username in Minecraft Java Edition. It is worth noting that you can only change your username once every 30 days, so make sure that you only changing your username if it’s something you want to keep for a while.
With that being said, the first step of updating your Minecraft username is opening the Minecraft Launcher. Then, in the Minecraft Launcher, click on the “Account” icon/username in the top left. This username may be different from your Minecraft username.
In the drop-down that appears, select the “Manage Minecraft: Java Edition profile”. This will open up the official Minecraft website - Minecraft.net in your browser.
Here, you will be prompted to sign-in to your Microsoft account. This is required in order to change your Minecraft username.
After you login, click on the “My Games” section if it isn’t selected already. Find “Minecraft: Java Edition”, and select “Profile Name”. You will be taken to a page where you can enter a new username for Minecraft. Once you do, click “Change Profile Name”, and assuming that the username is available, your username will be changed to that.
